Words

Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord my strength and my Redeemer.

Have you ever spoken words and immediately you wished you could take them back? We all have at some time in our lives. When we see the pain we have just caused we wish we could turn back time, but we can't. Even when we apologize the damage is already done. Yes the Lord can heal and restore but this kind of wound takes a long time to heal and even the strongest of relationships sometimes are never the same.

Words can be used to bring healing or words can be used to cause pain. Words are like seeds they will produce some kind of fruit. Words can be like a healing salve or they can cut like a knife. The Bible tells us that words are like a fire and a fire causes destruction. Words can be used like poison that injures, impairs and sometimes even cause death. I don't mean a physical death but a death of a relationship or death to dream. Without a dream or a vision a person will began to die on the inside.

PRAISE THE LORD FOR HIS WORD! His word brings life because it is alive. This is why we as His children must learn to speak His word not our thoughts or out of our emotions. Jesus told His disciples that they would speak with new tongues. He was not only speaking of a spiritual language, He was trying to tell them that once a person is born again and filled with His spirit that their conversation would change.

People that are not saved have a tendency to speak negative words, but we, as children of the King are a people full of hope. Our words should be words of healing, hope, peace, love and encouragement. We should always strive to build up and not tear down. We should always be ready to speak a word of faith. Brothers and Sisters let us always think with the mind of Christ before we open our mouths to speak.

Words of correction sometimes have to be spoken but always with love. Let us speak words that are sweet to the soul. Words are needed in due season to help a brother or sister to keep walking, to keep serving. We walk a straight and narrow road and if we are loaded down with the cares of this world it will only slow us down. Let us answer difficult situations with soft answers that turn wrath around before it has the chance to raise its ugly head. Remember every time you hold your tongue you mature a little in the spirit.

We must practice self-control, which is a fruit of the spirit. And only mature trees bear fruit. The book of Proverbs tells us that a foolish man will say whatever comes to his mind but a wise man keeps his thoughts to himself until it is the right time to share them. Sometimes it's not what you say but how and when you say it. Brothers and Sisters life and death are in the power of the tongue; let us always choose to speak life.
