Just Trust

My friend and I met for lunch the other day at O'Charley's. We primarily met on business, but after our meeting, we hung out under the awning outside while it was raining discussing various items affecting our lives. It was amazing how similar are our situations.

Over the past year, we have both struggled with our faith in God; not so much a problem of believing; but that the waiting has been difficult for both of us. We do not have the personalities to wait on anything. We want it now. It seems that the harder we try to be of God, the harder the devil has worked against our successes.

Over the past nine years since being saved, various evangelists and preachers have prophesied that my economic situation would be restored; some saying ten fold. None of these men and women knew that I had lost everything materially in 1995. Since then, I have had successes, but nothing to compare with what I had before. The reward I did get from my failure was Jesus Christ. I wouldn't trade Him for any of the things that I had.

My friend has a similar situation, in that he too has been promised substantial economic blessings. That rainy afternoon, we talked about the different things we tried to bring about fulfillment. He's tried praying the Jabez prayer for months. I also have tried a regimen of prayer. I've even gotten specific with God about how he could restore me and given him the very methods that would work; but nothing happens. We are frustrated men.

My friend finally told me that he had decided to just trust Him and whatever God has planned for him to let it happen no matter what the circumstance. I was amazed to hear him say this because of his often times controlling and stubborn attitude. It actually touched me in a way that I know now that God wanted me to get the message. Faith is hard. Trust is hard. Truly faith and trust is a matter of believing. If His Word is true, then it is easy because He is the only answer. Our determination to do whatever it takes is the very fuel needed to spark the flames of God's will for us.

I will let you know when the testimony is ready from both of us; because now I know it is coming. Praise God.
