GOD Made Bone

On January 11, 2001, my 13-year-old son, Ryan, was his very playful self. Some of the boys in the neighborhood were out playing and riding their bikes and scooters. Ryan decided to let one of the boys that lived down the street ride his bicycle and he wanted to ride that boy's scooter. They decided to race each other. Ryan was going at a fast speed when he hit a rock in the road and was thrown from the scooter, landing on his right arm. His arm was hurting and he looked down and saw that the bone was protruding through the skin. He sat down on the pavement thinking, "How can I get home?" He was about 1 1/2 blocks from home and he was hurting very badly. He started to pray, "GOD, please help me to get home." One of the boys ran to tell his mother that Ryan was hurt and needed help but she told her son to tell Ryan to go home. He waited on the pavement for some help but when the boy's mother did not come to help, he stood up and walked home with his arm broken. Every step that he took, he prayed, "GOD, please help me get home. One of the boys walked with him. When he got home, he sat on the front steps of the house, while the boy went inside to tell my daughter Brittany that Ryan was hurt and needed help. When my husband, Steve went outside to see how badly Ryan was hurt, he told Brittany to call and tell me to meet them at the hospital because Ryan had broken his arm.

Steve stopped at the church and had Lynne and Andrea pray for Ryan's arm before arriving at the hospital. I had been at the Emergency Room for about 15 minutes before Steve and Ryan got there. I was thinking they would put on a cast and Ryan would be all right. I did not expect to see the arm broken so badly. They immediately called an orthopedic surgeon to evaluate the severity of the break. His arm was broken about 1/2" below the growth plate. His arm was not broken; it was shattered. Parts of the bone were missing. His surgery consisted of inserting 2 metal plates and 10 screws to hold the arm together. The doctor told us that it would be a long recovery of 6 to 8 months for the bone to mend and that Ryan would have to have therapy because the tendons were damaged. In the hospital Ryan prayed that GOD would heal his arm. He never doubted one bit that GOD could help him. We knew that we served a GOD who could do the miraculous. He was in the hospital for 4 days. When we got home, he never complained of pain. It was very hard to keep him still. He kept saying, "I'm fine, Mom." Within 2 months, he was doing anything he wanted to do. He was helping Steve work around the house about 3 months after the accident, lifting 60-pound bags of cement.

We went back to the doctor on May 23d for the check-up to see how the bone was mending. Dr. Bromberg was amazed at how the bone had grown. He said he had never seen a break so bad mend and grow so quickly. Ryan told him that GOD did it. Dr. Bromberg replied, "It had to be". His arm was totally healed. He is scheduled to have surgery on July 5th to take out the plates and screws that were placed in the arm to hold it together. I praise GOD and give Him all of the Glory for His marvelous works that He has done in our fives.
