Finances Almost two years ago, a friend of mine asked me to go with her to Open Door Church. She told me about a man of God that was going to be at the church. This man was prophesying to the congregation about things God was doing and going to do in their lives. I thought about her invitation for a while. I was going through some things in my life and needed some answers. I prayed and asked God about going, I told Him I needed to hear from him on these matters. I did not know if this man would even give me a word from the Lord. Some people call him a prophet of God and the word he gives is a prophecy. I decided to go with my friend that night in the summer of 1999. As I listened to this man as he spoke to the other people, I knew what he was saying to them was from the Lord, because I knew what they had been praying for. This man did not know any of us so I knew that what he was saying was from God. He came to me and told me things that no one else knew but God and myself. It was great to hear from God in this manner (God speaks to us in many ways) and about things in which I needed answers. He also spoke about other things. I've said all of this to tell you how God has brought to pass one of the things He spoke to me about that night. He told me that within one to two years that I would be asked to leave the job that I was presently in and not to get upset that it was a start of a new thing. He told me that he saw me doing something in finance, organizing things, learning and teaching others about investing their money. This is the short version of the word given to me. I had not thought about the word until a year and a half later when I was told that our office was being moved to another state and that my position would be terminated. In October of 2000 I had met with a financial planner about my finances. Each time we met he would ask me questions that sounded more like a job interview. I did not think anything about it until he said this must sound like a job interview and I told him yes it does. As we talked over the months about my finances we also talked about the job. When I was told about my present job God had already made plans for me. It was not an easy decision for us to make about working together because we go to the same church together and we did not want our friendship and our working together to be a problem. We both prayed but God had already made the decision. This summer it will be two years since I received the word form the Lord. I now work with the financial planner; I am his assistant; learning and organizing things in the financial planning business and will learn how to invest money (some day). When God does things in your life, it is done right. When a man or woman of God give you a word form the Lord, first pray and believe God and watch how God will bring it about in your life.
